Gangi, PA
Gangi is a terraced village on the flank of a hill in the Madonie, with stone houses stacked one above the other. In 2014 it won the TV contest Il Borgo dei Borghi, and it is still one of the most photographed places in inland Sicily.
From the centre you climb to the Torre dei Ventimiglia, the symbol of the town, which looks over the rooftops and the countryside. In the historic centre, Palazzo Bongiorno with its hall of mirrors and the Chiesa Madre stand out.
The lanes are quiet, ideal for an unhurried stop and a lunch of Madonie products.
