Mazzarò is the bay below Taormina, a pebble beach with clear water and the rocks of Capo Sant'Andrea in the background. It is the most convenient seaside spot for anyone staying on the hill.
From the centre of Taormina you go down by cable car in a few minutes: the ride up and down is already part of the experience, with views over the coast.
A few steps away is Isola Bella, a little islet joined to the shore by a strip of sand and pebbles that emerges at low tide. For a peaceful swim it is better to go early in the morning.
- Beach always accessible. Taormina-Mazzarò cable car: departures about every 15 minutes, roughly from 8:00 to 20:00 in summer 2026 (hours vary, check on the spot).
- Half a day
- Free entry to the beach; sunbeds and parasols are paid. The cable car is paid and the fares changed in August 2026.
- June to September
- You come down from Taormina by cable car or by car; the beach is pebbly.
- Bring water shoes for the pebbles. From here you can walk to nearby Isola Bella: best early in the morning, before the crowds.
