Rabbit Beach is a crescent of pale sand on a turquoise sea, with a rock, the Isola dei Conigli, that you reach on foot with the water at your ankles. TripAdvisor ranked it first among the world's beaches in 2013 and it has often appeared in rankings since.
It lies in the Isola di Lampedusa Nature Reserve. It is also one of the places where the Caretta caretta turtle lays its eggs: for this reason protection rules apply and in summer access is limited.
From the top of the path the view is the best part: you see at once why the colour of the water changes with every step.
- Regulated access: in season only by free online booking, in morning and afternoon slots (you must pass through the reserve gates by 9:30 and 15:30, according to the rules published for 2026). Out of season, find out beforehand.
- Half a day
- Free access, but booking is compulsory in season
- June to September; out of season it is quieter
- You get there by a short descent on an unpaved path; no facilities along the way.
- Book in advance and respect your time slot: the limits on numbers change every year. Bring water and a parasol, as there are no bars or beach clubs in the reserve. During the nesting season, rules apply to protect the turtles.
