The Pescheria, called a Piscaria by the people of Catania, is the fish market held in the morning behind Piazza Duomo. Among the stalls prices are shouted, fish are cut on the spot and you smell the sea.

Next to it is the Fontana dell'Amenano, and around it are stalls of fruit, vegetables and meat. The fry shops and trattorias nearby cook the fresh catch.

It is a lively, noisy place, perfect for anyone who wants to see the real Catania.
